Dr. Umar Saif, the Caretaker Minister of Information Technology, has announced some great news: starting on February 1, a trial project will make it easier to register a PayPal account and make secure international payments.

Dr. Umar Saif highlighted the accomplishments of the Ministry of IT during the four months of the Caretaker Government’s administration, stressing the critical role the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) played in expeditiously approving projects. Noting that IT companies can now keep 50% of their earnings in dollars, demonstrating the government’s commitment to helping the tech industry, he praised the excellent performance.

Dr. Umar Saif also emphasized the effective start of an elite training program that helps 200,000 university graduates in IT and advances skills in the field.

In response to a persistent worry expressed by independent contractors, the Caretaker IT Minister declared that the significant issue pertaining to the digital payment gateway has been resolved. Commencing on February 1st, the trial project will enable 10,000 freelancers to create accounts and provide them with the ease of receiving payments via PayPal.

Furthermore, Dr. Umar Saif underscored the government’s commitment to upgrading technical infrastructure, ensuring the availability of spectrum for 5G. A project to install more than 200,000 km of optical fiber cable across the nation is about to start in an effort to improve connectivity.
