The mega starrer movie Fighter banned in gulf countries over ‘objectionable content’. The Bollywood action propaganda film “Fighter,” starring Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan, gained a lot of attention earlier this week after being outlawed in a number of Gulf nations.
According to early reports, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was exempt from the embargo along with many other Gulf countries. However, major theater chains have stopped accepting reservations, according to recent reports from trade analysts, meaning that the film is currently facing a “suspension” in the UAE. The movie’s UAE distributor recently reaffirmed that it will be distributed. Although the precise cause of the ban is unknown, rumors state that it has to do with “some objectionable content in the film.”
Prior to the prohibition, there were earlier rumors that “Fighter” was going to be released in the UAE with a PG 15 rating.
Girish Johar, a trade analyst, affirmed this. On X, he said, “Fighter has been officially banned for theatrical release throughout the Middle East due to a setback.” The movie, rated PG15, will only be released in the United Arab Emirates. According to the Times of India, recent reports indicate that the UAE has also banned the movie, with confirmation from the movie’s UAE distributor.
Fighter Banned in Gulf Countries – The Story
The story of the film centers on India’s reaction to the attack in India-occupied Kashmir, or Pulwama.
Many in Pakistan expressed disapproval of the movie’s portrayal of the Pulwama incident, saying it “exploited a sensitive matter” and encouraged “anti-Pakistan” sentiment. It’s thought that the film’s contentious theme and this criticism had an impact on the Gulf censor boards’ choices.
In response to these worries, the director of the picture, Siddharth Anand, recommended that people view the full movie in order to gain context before making assumptions based solely on the trailer. He made it clear that the purpose of “Fighter” is to pose questions concerning terrorism, not to inspire hatred toward any country. The sentiment was echoed by the primary cast.
‘Fighter’ will still be exhibited in Indian theaters, despite not being aired in certain locations. In addition to Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan, the cast of the film also includes Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, and Sanjeeda Shaikh. The movie was produced by Marflix Pictures and Viacom18 Studios.
